Introduction
The new starcombination from Tessenderlo (Belgium) is actually a team of 3 pigeon-fanciers. Pascal Ariën, who is the ‘brain’ behind this colony, works at Duracell Batteries as supervisor. The second member is Agy Verreckt, she takes mostly care of the youngsters and the widowers, works as a bank clerk at KBC. Last but not least we have Alfons Verwimp, Pascal his grandfather. Because Agy and Pascal have a full time job and have just become parents of a son Milan, is the professional help and care of ‘Fonske’ more than welcome and necessary. The grandfather lets the youngsters fly and feeds them. He has the unique gift to control the young pigeons without making them too tame.
The pigeon colony exists of aproximately 30 breedcouples, 100 flying pigeons. Next season, they shall have 40 female pigeons in stead of 30. Every year they bread 250 youngsters. They compete mostly with old and year pigeons and in the future they will focus on the national and seminational fondflights. ‘Specialization’ is most important in modern pigeon sport, thus Pascal. The youngsters are trained as good as possible, five flights as younster from Momignies or Soissons (100 to 250 km).
Before Pascal played in Tessenderlo he played succesfully toghether with his grandfather under the name: Verwimp- Ariën.
  
Pigeons
The foundation of the current colony ‘Verreckt-Ariën’ started in 1994. That year we bought a couple of eggs from Toine Lowet Bilzen. We got the eggs from a couple of yearlings from Toine’s Karel Meulemans pigeons. The cock that wa born from these eggs was in 1995 and 1996 our absolute best flyer. For this reason in 1997, when Pascal graduated and really wanted to start with pigeons on a much higher level, he went back to Toine Lowet. He brought 20 eggs from Toine’s best widowers and this was really the start for the successes of today. Two of these 20 pigeons are now froming the ‘super pair’ from Verreckt-Ariën.
“The Superpair”
In 1999 again 20 eggs from Toine came to Pascal and also this time with succes. The mother of “Amber” 1e National Argenton was born out of one of these eggs. The father of Amber is, of course, a grandson of the superpair (Armstrong).
“Den Dikke”X”Lang Lowet”: “The Superpair”
If we look at the pedigrees of the best pigeons at the pigeon house of Verreckt-Ariën you will notice one thing. All the super pigeons are descended of one couple: Den Dikke X Lang Lowet. In the pedigrees we find names as: Jantje Theelen, Jan Grondelaers and Karel Meulemans. In the first breading year a super pigeon was born: “Elfke Dikke”(428/98). She showed her class the first time at 30 degrees and wind stood north east on Toury(390km), she won the second price, but when she came home she was playing for 10 minutes before entering the loft.After that she also won 3 sacs of pigeon food, first pigeon at the august flights. The other pigeons on the same loft didn’t flew any prices, so that made her special. In 1999 she gave birth to “Armstrong”, he was basketted 6 times on the mid fond flights and flew 5x coefficient under 1 and 1x under 1,5!! Armstrong gave birth to “Amber” and she flies in 2004 as yearpigeon 6 coefficients under 1,1, with a 5th prov Blois, 5th prov Limoges and a 1st national Argenton of 1340 females!!!Here we only mentioned 1 succes of the successfull children of “Den DikkeXLang Lowet”.

All the good results in 2004 & 2005 were children ,grand- or greatgrandchildren of this super pair!!!!

20 sons and daughters of this pair are on the breading loft and were matened to the best pigeons of Patricia Verhaegen(Aarschot)from pigeons of the “Jackpot” X “grijze Kanibaal”(origine Dirk Vandijck), Kamiel Nulens(Koersel), family of the “Fenomenale”(1e National Ace Pigeon midfond Belgium 2002), Daems Leon(Laakdal), Eddy Helsen(Laakdal), who has Houben pigeons, line Sony. To secure the future we bought pigeons at Vermeerbergen-Van Reet, Daniel Parijs, Gust Steemans, Jhonny Janssens (National champion youngsters 2005 fond) and Henri Menten (Herselt) who was several times one of the national champions. Every year we new bloodlines to further strengten our own bloodline.

Especially on flights between 450 and 800km this family of pigeons is bearly unbeatable!
Feedingsystem
Our feedingsystem is really classic. We pay attention that females are fed more grease.(small seeds, corn and etra oil and even some peanuts) and the males more protein and stronger food. When they arrive the eating-through is full with a combination of diet, flew, peanuts and small seeds,... everybody can eat what and how much they want. The pigeons themselves know best what they need to recover as quickly as possible. The day after they can finish their big dish an in the evening they are fed lightly. The last 2 or three days before basketting they are fed more ‘heavy’. The day of basketting they are fed three or four times a day and they are kept inside so they can keep all their energy inside!!
  
  
Medical treatment
Before and after the season (September and February), we treat them during 10 days against coli, salmonella and paratyphus. In November and March 8 days treatment against trichomonas. During the season we don’t try to treat them! If we have a problem we go immediatly to the ved, we don’t treat blindly!! In 2004 & 2005 we visited the ved regularly, but there weren’t any real problems!! A few times we treated for the head because they trained less!!!
We also use apple-vinaigre, beer yeast, babypowder and products with aminosours and proteins for the quick recovery of the muscles. Garlic oil and various other oils are put onto the food to built up the musscles and increase the energy at the end of the week. Pure vitamines or powders to increase the condition weren’t used this season. During the breading they get vitamineral with extra protein.
